Chinese airliner C919 was shown to foreigners for the first time in Hong Kong

Hong Kong became the place where the international media first showed the new domestically produced Chinese passenger aircraft C919, reports the Telegram channel of the All-Russian public organization Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
It is noted that the airliner has been operating on domestic flights since May, and was seen for the first time outside mainland China.
“The aircraft’s goals are more than ambitious – to challenge the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320, to successfully compete with Western rivals in the air and to reduce China’s dependence on foreign technologies and suppliers,” the material says.
The aircraft will be produced at an impressive pace – more than 1,000 orders have already been received for the C919 (although not a single one from abroad so far – the car is taken mainly by Chinese carriers).
Despite the fact that the aircraft is entirely manufactured in China, it still depends on foreign supplies of components and technology. For example, the C919 engines and avionics are imported. The engines are supplied by a joint venture of the American corporation General Electric and the French company Safran.
