China lifts quarantine for tourists coming from abroad

Today, December 26, the National Health Commission of China announced on the abolition of the quarantine requirement for tourists coming to the country from abroad from January 8. This measure has been in place in China since 2020. In addition, as a whole, the category of measures against COVID-19 in force in the country has been reduced from the highest A to B.
This is another easing of covid measures in China over the past month. In early December, the National Health Commission announced about the most significant easing of coronavirus restrictions since the beginning of the pandemic: the changes affected the rules for declaring a quarantine regime and restrictions on freedom of movement, the introduction of lockdowns and the requirements for testing for COVID-19. The easing was announced after mass protests in Chinese cities against lockdowns and other covid measures.
