China imposes sanctions against the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China announced the imposition of sanctions against the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, Agne Vaiciukevichiute, because of her visit to Taiwan, informs department press office.
China has accused Vaiciukavichute of violating the One China principle, interfering in China’s internal affairs, and undermining China’s sovereignty and integrity, the ministry said in a statement. In response to the visit, the PRC government imposes sanctions against Vaiciukevichiute, suspends any form of communication with the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications, and suspends cooperation with Lithuania in the field of international road transport.
China considers Taiwan to be its province, so the PRC government opposes any contacts between the island’s administration and countries with which Beijing has diplomatic relations.
After US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan China announcedthat will impose sanctions against her, as well as her relatives. Pelosi’s actions were described by the Chinese Foreign Ministry as interference in China’s domestic politics. China also declared on the temporary suspension or abolition of eight mechanisms for cooperation with the United States, including climate change negotiations, dialogue with the United States at the level of regional military commands, cooperation in the field of litigation and justice, etc.
