Beijing criticized the defense budget for fiscal year 2023. The document was signed by US President Joe Biden the day before. The People’s Republic of China believes that it contains negative provisions against Taiwan that violate the “one China” principle. The state position on this issue is transmitted by the CGTN channel.
“China made a representation to the United States after Biden signed into law the National Defense Appropriations Act,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement quoted by the channel. It is noted that the law contains a large number of negative provisions regarding Taiwan. These provisions, as noted in the Chinese Foreign Ministry, seriously violate the principle of “one China”, as well as the content of earlier agreements between China and the United States.
“The US must stop faking and going down the wrong and dangerous path,” the statement said.
The head of the White House signed into law the US defense budget for fiscal year 2023 in the amount of $ 858 billion – 10% more than in the outgoing year.
