China has started accepting sanctioned tankers from Russia again

According to data from LSEG, Kpler and Vortexa, companies specializing in collecting data on commodity markets, Chinese ports have begun to accept sanctioned tankers from Russia.

Thus, in the Chinese port of Huanghua in the city of Cangzhou in Hebei province, the Liteyny Prospect tanker with Russian Sokol oil on board was moored.

Earlier it became known that US sanctions were imposed on the ship, and therefore it had to stand idle at sea for three months.

“This is one of six tankers with Sokol oil that have been at sea near Chinese ports since November last year in the absence of oil buyers due to Western sanctions and payment problems,” experts said.

It is clarified that the volume of Russian oil in floating storage facilities in February exceeded 10 million barrels.
