The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China said that the Chinese government has decided to ban the import of products from Japan because of Tokyo’s intention to dump contaminated water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the sea.
It is specified that such a decision was made in order to prevent the import of Japanese seafood contaminated with radiation into China.
“A ban is being introduced on the import of food products from 10 prefectures in Japan, including from Fukushima,” Chinese customs said in a statement.
