China plans to land taikonauts (Chinese cosmonauts) on the lunar surface by 2030, the Manned Space Flight Program Administration (CMSA) of the People’s Republic of China reported on the WeChat social network.
“According to the plan of the manned lunar exploration project, the Chinese will land on the moon for the first time before 2030, during this mission, two astronauts will operate a manned lunar rover for scientific research,” the report said (cit. according to TASS).
The CMSA noted that the lunar rover will be equipped with a location determination function.
In mid-April, NASA chief Bill Nelson informedthat the NASA Artemis III mission, involving the landing of two astronauts on the moon, could take place at the end of 2025 or in 2026. In total, four people will take part in the mission, two of them will spend six days on the surface of the moon. In January Nelson told about the tightening of the lunar race of the USA and China. In his opinion, China can gain a foothold and try to dominate the moon, in its most resource-rich places.
