Children in the UK began to eat glue because of hunger

British children have started eating PVA glue because families don’t have enough money for groceries. The Daily Star writes about it. Almost everywhere, teachers complain that children come to class hungry. Children develop nervous disorders from malnutrition.
The shocking facts were brought by MP Preet Gill at a meeting of the parliamentary committee. She recalled that food inflation last month amounted to 15%. This is the highest figure in almost 40 years. Rising prices have been devastating to the budgets of many British families.
The City of Birmingham website reports that 37 percent of children in the city live below the poverty line. This is more than 100 thousand people, the publication emphasizes.
MP Gill said that in her district, the majority of voters spend the lion’s share of income on groceries and basic necessities. Parents often skip meals while giving food to their children. And a boy from the Midlands tried to relieve hunger pangs with PVA glue right at school; the teachers stopped him. “We can cite other shocking cases from the life of our district. These are manifestations of a national crisis, in the resolution of which we are all interested,” concluded Gill.
