Chess tournament for the prizes of “United Russia” was held in Serpukhov

Competitions are timed to coincide with the celebration of National Unity Day
About fifty chess players gathered in Serpukhov not only from the municipality, but also from Pushchino and Protvino. They competed for the title of the best in the tournament for the prizes of the United Russia party as part of the Children’s Sports project.
The athletes were greeted by Alexei Malkin, First Deputy Head of the Okrug Administration, Lidiya Khalacheva, Executive Secretary of the local branch of United Russia, and Mikhail Shulga, deputy of the Council of Deputies, municipal curator of the Children’s Sport party project.
– I always come to our club with great pleasure. Chess is a wonderful intellectual game that teaches perseverance, composure and, most importantly, to think several moves ahead. I wish the guys success, good luck and, of course, reach the same heights as their grandmasters,” commented Alexei Malkin.
Among the participants of the tournament were those who have already achieved considerable results – winners and prize-winners of the Moscow region, prize-winners of the competitions of the Central Federal District, participants of the World Championships.
According to the results of the competition in the overall standings, the first place was taken by Evgeny Pivikov, the second – by Artyom Shchepanyuk, the third – by Vladislav Igumev. In the age group up to 12 years, Serpukhov Alexey Tsibulka became the best, and the second and third places went to Nikita Zhebet and Alexander Vasilyev, also from Serpukhov.
