Chess player Anatoly Karpov after resuscitation spoke about the attack on himself

The Soviet and Russian chess player, the twelfth world chess champion (1975-1985), and now a State Duma deputy Anatoly Karpov was discharged from the hospital, where he was in intensive care, and is now at home.

In his first post-hospital interview Karpov said that he was attacked. “It looks like there was a blow, it was struck from behind. We still have to deal with all this. Someone called an ambulance. Unfortunately, the situation also affected the condition of the lungs,” he said.

After this attack, he ended up in intensive care at the Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. N.V. Sklifosovsky. “I was in intensive care for a week. I tried all the time to escape from there, but the doctors persuaded me to be patient. As a result, I was allowed to go home with the condition of being on sick leave for a week or two,” the grandmaster added.

According to Karpov, he had a lot of free time in the hospital, which he spent thinking about new articles on the historical and political topic of relations between Russia, Poland and Ukraine.

So, he remembered 1966, then he was sent to a tournament in Sweden, and in one conversation the topic of the Battle of Poltava arose. He was surprised that the Swedes did not hold grudge against Russia for Poltava, because in the end the country became neutral. “And now, suddenly, incomprehensible political ambitions have woken up in them, and they have floundered into NATO,” he explained.
