Chess player Khismatullin is blocked from a professional website after a scandal with a Polish grandmaster
The Chess.com website blocked Russian grandmaster Denis Khismatullin, whose Polish opponent Jan-Krzysztof Duda earlier in Samarkand refused to shake hands.
Khismatullin himself announced the blocking. According to him, the site notified him that he was prohibited from participating in prize tournaments and, in general, from any activity on the site.
The statement was published in his Telegram channel by chess player, Vladimir Putin’s confidant in the elections, Sergei Karyakin. In his statement, Khismatullin emphasized that he was not offended by his Polish colleague and asked the media not to insult him and his compatriots.
Polish media wrote that Grandmaster Duda refused to shake hands with Khismatullin at the December 26 tournament due to the fact that the Russian was alleged to have repeatedly visited the CBO zone.
