Chelyabinsk residents opened a unique hockey section for children with mental disabilities

The initiators of the creation of the team were the parents of a child with autism. Spouses Elena Levina and Ilya Grigoriev even received the necessary training to be able to work with children. How they assembled a special team, they told the correspondent of “Vecherny Chelyabinsk”.

Elena and Ilya are the parents of a child with mental disabilities. At first, the couple simply taught their son to skate, and once they thought about whether there were sections for special children in the country. So, in the process of searching for information, they learned about the Adaptive Hockey Federation. The sports organization, in turn, responded to the initiative of the Chelyabinsk residents to create a team and helped them to study at the School of Coaches.

The family announced recruitment for the hockey team last fall. The Nikita Nesterov Hockey Center provided assistance with training facilities. There are currently ten students attending classes. Parents are also actively involved in the process. Novice hockey players do general physical education in the gym, hone their stick skills in a special throwing area, and since February, they finally got the opportunity to go on the ice.

The caring South Urals provide the team with all possible assistance. There were sponsors among companies, including those from Magnitogorsk. Thanks to the support, the guys got new skates, and soon the rest of the equipment, including sticks and helmets, will come to them.
