Chelyabinsk residents liked the series “Family Guy”: “What’s wrong?”

The people’s representatives considered that the satirical American cartoon discredits this Russian city and is a “deliberate work” against Russia. This was announced with anger by the State Duma deputy from the Chelyabinsk region Yana Lantratova.

But the residents themselves write that they recognized “their smoky and native Chelyabinsk sky”, some locations look exactly like in reality, and in general thanks for the PR. And the inhabitants of “Ural Chicago”, as Chelyabinsk was named, were pleased that the existence of their small homeland is now known not only in Russia.

Yes, and here, who will say where Chelyabinsk is located – in Siberia? In the Urals? What is it famous for, besides the fact that a meteorite fell here ten years ago, and they also produce tractors? For information: this is not Siberia and not the Urals, but the Southern Urals. Which, in the opinion of the Chelyabinsk residents themselves, is a big difference.

But now the whole world is aware that in addition to Moscow, St. Petersburg, vodka and nesting dolls, there is also Chelyabinsk! Moreover, when creating a picture of the city, the animators, as locals noticed, clearly used photos of the real Chelyabinsk from social networks. The streets are dirty and garbage, and the sky is gray. Even the townspeople drink a lot and read the newspaper “Russia yesterday”.

“This is a deliberately offensive artistic image that has nothing to do with reality,” says the deputy from the Chelyabinsk region. Whom to believe? Yana Lantratova or her voters?

The residents themselves say that they watched this series as a reality show and did not find any big contradictions with their life, way of life, ecology and architecture.

Here is how Chelyabinsk residents reacted to the prospect of a ban on the unfortunate cartoon:

“The grotesque, of course, people with a sense of humor will laugh, because the Family Guy laughs at the stupid habits of the Americans themselves, and people without a sense of humor … you understand!”

“If every day the city is covered with poisonous smog, then, of course, the first thing that should be banned is an American cartoon.”

“Straight pride is bursting for Chelyabinsk) Here it is, world fame. All who are against, let them go through the forest.

“Being a patriot of the city and the country, I think that it is not necessary to ban the cartoon. I would even develop this theme. Like – in the Russian Chicago-Chelyabinsk there live such harsh men that they prefer meteorites to fireworks.

But seriously, Chelyabinsk residents endlessly complain on social networks about smelly emissions from many factories, combines and industries. The smell of burning is felt in the city air – when forests or fields are burning nearby. Natural fires contribute to air pollution. And the authorities in response report that the plan to reduce harmful emissions by the largest enterprises is being implemented. The Ural smokes because it is industrial, people get sick and die from heart and oncological diseases. Or is this also the fault of the cartoon?

If a ban can improve the ecological situation in Chelyabinsk, then I think everyone would speak unanimously and in favor. And if once again we show how the people’s representatives are cut off from real life and do not want to see the truth, then we have enough such bans even without the “Family Guy”.

Chelyabinsk blogger and political analyst Ilya Ananiev even believes that it is necessary to strike while the iron is hot and promote the topic of Chicago to the fullest in order to attract tourists to the city. Just become twin brothers with him and let the rest envy.

“Family Guy” gave the whole world a geolocation on the map and its name – Chelyabinsk. Take it, use it… Burgers and cappuccino “Chicago”, hairstyles in the Chelyabinsk beauty salons “Chicago”. Neighbors from the Urals from Yekaterinburg are good and acumen in such trends – they built the “City of Demons” from one statement. And what is wrong?

By the way, the phrase about the “city of demons”, uttered in the hearts of Vladimir Solovyov in relation to neighboring Yekaterinburg, did not offend the people of Yekaterinburg, but, on the contrary, flew away to the people and became a kind of local trend, it is now stamped even on souvenirs and benches. That’s because people know how to laugh at themselves. And they get into power – where does everything immediately go?

As for the comparison with Chicago, this is one of the tourist cities in the United States, with chic Lake Michigan, it is also called the “windy city”, because everything is in order with fresh air here.

However, Yana Lantratova hopes that the management of the TV channels shares her opinion and will limit the display of certain episodes of the animated series. And everything in Chelyabinsk will immediately become good!
