Chelyabinsk coach explained the benefits of badminton

Sport develops physical fitness well, improves vision and teaches quick reaction. Such advantages were highlighted by the senior badminton coach of the Chelyabinsk region Pavel Katyushkin and the silver medalist of the Russian Championship Egor Katyushkin, who became guests of the “In the Morning” stream show.

According to studio guests, despite its apparent simplicity, badminton is one of the top three in terms of intensity of physical activity. He was even included in the astronaut training program.

“They launched a shuttlecock into the draw, and the game is on. Well, they (youth athletes) have an average of 30–40 blows. But even running for a minute and a half, it’s all unpredictable, where the shuttlecock can fly, quick decisions need to be made, so a minute and a half is a very good load,” says Pavel Katyushkin.

Egor himself added that sometimes up to a hundred blows can be made in a rally. “Badminton is a very useful sport, not so expensive, not so traumatic. People like it,” noted Pavel Katyushkin.

In addition to a professional racket and shuttlecock, professional shoes are also required – sneakers with a special sole that allows the athlete to stop abruptly and not slip on the surface.

Guests of the studio also said that in some schools in Chelyabinsk the game of badminton was included in physical education lessons. Moreover, competitions among schools are currently being held.

There are currently two badminton sports schools in Chelyabinsk – one is located at the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, this is the Metar school, and the second in the Leninsky district is the Torpedo Sports School.
