Chelsea say they are shocked by the death of Ghanaian midfielder Atsu

Chelsea FC have reacted to reports of the death of Hatayspor midfielder Christian Atsu, who was found dead under rubble in Turkey.
“Everyone at Chelsea is shocked by the tragic death of our former player Christian Atsu,” the club said in a statement.
Chelsea added: “Our thoughts at the moment are with his family and friends.”
Atsu died at the age of 31. He is from Ghana and was a member of the national team. He has been playing in the Turkish team since September 2022.
During his career, he also played for Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Porto, Bournemouth and other teams.
On the night of February 6, a powerful earthquake occurred in Turkey. The player’s agent Murat Uzunmehmet said on Saturday that a Ghanaian footballer was found dead under the rubble.
It was previously reported that Atsu was still being sought.
