Following Traktor, its farm club, Chelmet, completed its hockey season. The team led by Maxim Smelnitsky reached the playoffs of the All-Russian Hockey League VHL, but failed to overcome the first round, losing to the reigning VHL champion Rubin 0:4 in the series.
According to the results of the regular season, Chelmet took a rather high 12th place. Unfortunately, it was not possible to impose a serious fight on the more experienced Rubin. Although the matches in Tyumen turned out to be equal, the hosts still won 4:3. Rubin won the first match in Chelyabinsk easily – 6:2, and in the second the hosts managed to fight, but lost 2:4.
Chelmet played in the playoffs for the third season in a row, but, most importantly, it fulfilled its main function – it helped in the development of players for Traktor. In the course of the season, such players of the main team as Alexander Shepelev, Kirill Ustimenko, Mikhail Rolgizer, Mikhail Kotlyarevsky, Sergey Mylnikov and others passed through the farm club.
Forward Andrey Erofeev, Alexander Podkorytov, Ilya Zinovv, goalkeeper Vyacheslav Buteyts, defender Konstantin Klimontov can be called the best players of the season in Chelmet itself.
