According to the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, two civilians were injured as a result of the incident. One man escaped with a shrapnel wound, the second was crushed by a wall. Both are alive and receiving medical care. About two thousand people have already been evacuated from the villages of Azov and Maiskoye. They don’t take them far, to neighboring villages. For example, the village of Kondratyevo took in 27 people, including many pensioners, as well as two children.

“I’m from Rosa Luxembourg Street,” an elderly resident of Maisky says in the video, “this cowshed (a farm converted into an ammunition depot – ed.) next to us. They say that two houses burned down on our street, but I myself did not see … It was not yet six in the morning, when it started to bang – I ran away. Everyone ran away.”

It is now impossible to enter Mayskoye and Azovskoye. At the entrance there are checkpoints of the police, the National Guard and the traffic police, security has been strengthened. As a result of the incident, half a meter of the railway track passing in the vicinity of the village of Mayskoye was damaged. Currently, the Russian Railways repair team is repairing the damaged sections of the tracks, promising to do it in two hours. In the villages themselves, windows were shattered in many buildings. The work of local institutions and industrial enterprises was stopped.

“The railway is damaged,” a local resident Anastasia told MK. “The station was not damaged, but the rails were seriously damaged – they were torn apart”

– How are things going with the evacuation of people in the villages now?

– Villages are closed. If you want to get to the evacuation point, you need to get to the neighboring village of Vladislavovka, and from there people are transported by buses. They are taken to Tabachnoe and Kondratievo. Settled in local schools, kindergartens.
