On August 20, at the closing of the festival of young art “Tavrida.ART”, which is held in Crimea by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), a presentation of the symbols of the upcoming World Youth Festival took place, its press service reported. This large-scale event will take place from March 1 to March 7, 2024 at the Sirius Educational Center, and its main mascot, as announced on Sunday, will be Cheburashka. As the organizers of the World Festival explain, this literary and cinematic hero embodies the main values of the youth forum – “friendliness and mutual respect.”

Speaking at the closing ceremony of Tavrida.ART, Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, explained that the residents of the Crimean festival were instructed to develop a cultural program for the World Youth Festival. This international forum will be attended by 20,000 people “from all over the planet,” Mr. Kiriyenko emphasized: “And this crosses out any attempts to culturally isolate our country: if creative, talented, bright young people from various countries go to Russia, this means that we they cannot isolate, because the future belongs to these guys who will gather in Sirius. Moreover, we have something to show from what is being implemented in Russia now in terms of opportunities for self-realization of the younger generation, and we are ready to share this unique experience with countries that share our values.”

It should be noted that in terms of the timing of the World Youth Festival, it partially coincides with the presidential election campaign (according to the law, the voting day for them should be March 17, 2024, and the campaign itself will start in December 2023). According to Kommersant’s information, the organization of the World Festival, among other things, was discussed at a seminar for employees of the presidential administration on the upcoming federal elections. Another large-scale event, which actually coincides with the presidential campaign, will be the exhibition “Russia” at VDNKh: it will be dedicated to the achievements of the country and will be held from November 4, 2023 to April 12, 2024.
