American company OpenAI added ChatGPT chatbot is able to remember facts about users and their tastes. Previously, users of an AI bot had to tell ChatGPT some information about themselves every time they started communicating.

ChatGPT’s memory will work in two ways: the user will either have to give the chatbot the information it needs to remember, or ChatGPT will receive the necessary information during the conversation. According to the developers, the new memory function will make the chatbot more convenient and personalized. As a result, ChatGPT will need to collect and store user information while creating a digital profile of the user, which could have a negative impact on data privacy.

OpenAI says the chatbot will not store sensitive information about users, such as their health. There will also be the ability to configure memory: just ask ChatGPT what information about the user is saved, after which it can be deleted. By default, the memory function will be activated, but it can also be turned off completely. The feature is currently in testing for a limited number of ChatGPT users.
