Charles III will wear the mantle of his grandfather King George VI to the coronation ceremony, a mantle for more than 90 years, reports Sky News.
The mantle was last used in 1937 when George VI ascended the throne.
The mantle will also be worn by the queen consort and wife of Charles III, Camilla. The length of her mantle will be 5.5 meters, she was made in 1953 before the coronation of Elizabeth II. The mantle is reportedly depicted with bees and beetles, which symbolize “Their Majesties’ love for the natural world.”
Charles III became King of Great Britain after the death of his mother, Elizabeth II. He set the record for the longest wait to become King of Great Britain. The coronation will take place on May 6th.
