Charity concert for Yuri Gagarin’s anniversary – Kommersant

On the occasion of the approaching 90th anniversary of the birth of the first cosmonaut of the planet, Yuri Gagarin (celebrated on March 9), a concert was held in the Snegiri sanatorium near Moscow, organized with the support of the Academy of Life charity foundation and the Alexandra Pakhmutova Cultural Foundation for children from orphanages. The concert featured melodies by Alexandra Nikolaevna Pakhmutova, who was well acquainted with Gagarin, performed by Jasmine, Andrei Lefler, Ivan Dyatlov, a young student of the Mikhail Glinka Children’s Music School from Smolensk. The artists were accompanied by the composer herself, and Ekaterina Strizhenova acted as the presenter. The Nika Charitable Foundation brought two dogs from its shelter, Belka and Strelka, named after the first tailed cosmonauts who made an orbital flight in August 1960. A limited series of T-shirts with an archival photo of Yuri Gagarin and Alexandra Pakhmutova and Alexandra Nikolaevna’s autograph were released especially for the concert. TV presenter Elena Letuchaya organized a competition for children, during which she gave the winners books from the “Wizard Lexicon” series.
