Channel One will show the historical drama Union of Salvation. Time of Anger”

Union of Salvation. Time of Wrath is a story based on real events. The action begins in April 1814, when Russian officers in Paris are celebrating the victory over Napoleon, and ends in July 1826 in St. Petersburg, near the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress. The main characters are representatives of the young military elite, who, having returned from a foreign campaign, want to decisively change the order of life in the country.

Large-scale historical drama “Union of Salvation. The Time of Anger is a prequel and sequel to The Union of Salvation in one project. The series partially includes materials from the film directed by Andrey Kravchuk (“Italian”, “Admiral”) in 2018. The explosion of emotions that accompanied the release of the film confirmed the intuition of the creators that we are talking about the unpast past, and it is waiting for continuation. Especially for the series “Union of Salvation. Time of Anger” in 2020–2021, directors Nikita Vysotsky and Ilya Lebedev filmed completely new episodes.

Correspondence to the era is reflected both in the scenery and in the costumes of the main characters and actors of mass scenes. End of the Alexander era. “Golden Age” of Russian culture. The world of “Woe from Wit” and the last chapters of “Eugene Onegin” – the duration of the project.

Costume designers Ekaterina Shapkaits and Dmitry Andreev skillfully recreated the outfits in the fashion of the Decembrists and subtly felt the dramatic direction of the picture.

The scale of the project is conveyed through unique sets: the locations presented in the series are recreated with exceptional accuracy based on real places. Production designer Sergei Tyrin created a lively dynamic environment that completely immerses the viewer in what is happening on the screen. Almost the entire project was filmed during the expedition – St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Tver, Pskov, Moscow region.

There are over 100 characters in the series. About three thousand people took part in the creation of mass scenes. The peculiarity of the casting of the project is that after the tests, fans of the film from the Union of Salvation fandom, which arose after the film and is still active, starred in it.

Approximately 2,350 costumes were made, not counting 100 character costumes. In total, over 1,600 postigia units were made for the project.

The project used computer graphics, revolutionary for the domestic industry, with digital extras and complex technological solutions: 47 fully drawn frames and 138 chromakey frames, where St. Petersburg of the Decembrists was restored in full accordance with the surviving documents of the era.

Roles in the series “Union of Salvation. Time of Wrath” was performed by actors Leonid Bichevin, Maxim Matveev, Pavel Priluchny, Anton Shagin, Ivan Kolesnikov, Ivan Yankovsky, Alexander Domogarov, Sofia Ernst, Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Igor Petrenko, Alexander Ustyugov, Sergei Bezrukov, Roman Madyanov, Ksenia Kutepova, Alexei Guskov, Tikhon Zhiznevsky, Yuri Chursin, Dmitry Lysenkov, Pavel Barshak and many other Russian actors.

And she deserves to be told on the screen. This is what we are trying to do in the eight-episode film “Union of Salvation. Time for anger.” It is inspired by the film, but much richer in events and more deeply comprehends everything connected with the 1825 uprising. It’s both a prequel and sequel to Salvation Union, and the sheer volume of new material makes The Union something of a teaser for a series.”

Nikita Vysotsky, director and scriptwriter of the series: “This is not an addition to the film, but newly written and filmed material in the format of a movie novel. Now the film has become just one of the chapters of this story. This is not just an attempt to tell about the characters with whom the viewer is already familiar, but the introduction of many lines, new characters, events, conflicts. As our teachers told us: “Heroes are the carriers of the idea of ​​the picture.”

Leonid Bichevin, actor of the series: “In the series“ Union of Salvation. Time of anger ”the love line of Muravyov-Apostol became more noticeable, he is revealed not only as a man of action, but a man with feelings, a romantic hero. Of course, this enriches the character and his image, his story. I tried to honestly live his condition and relations with colleagues, with Anna, to be lively and interesting.

Sofya Ernst, TV series actress: “There is a lot of me in my character: after all, when you play a character, you give him all of yourself. When I played in this project, all the cells of my body belonged to my heroine. It was important for me to show my heroine as a beautiful, worthy woman in order to emphasize the motivation of the main character: he acts according to his convictions even when there is a strong obstacle – to lose such a woman and such love. My goal was to show the viewer how it works.”

Maxim Matveev, actor of the series: “Trubetskoy’s personality in the series is revealed through family scenes: all the scenes with his wife are dear to me, from these scenes I internally determined what he is like. He is a historical personality, even more canonical, figurative – a person who did something – or did not. But what he was outside of these frameworks is very interesting. We know a lot about his activities, but we know little about what he is like in his personal life.

Pavel Priluchny, actor of the series: “I am glad that the history of the Union of Salvation continues. Stories of bright and multifaceted personalities are woven into the event outline of the series. I play the role of a colonel, brutal handsome Pavel Pestel. He is a brave and ideological person who thinks a few steps ahead. I cannot say that I created my character from scratch, as there are many testimonies and memories about him. But his image is not so widely replicated, so I had the opportunity to endow him with some of my own character traits. Come up with a hero that thousands could follow.”

The series “Union of Salvation. Time of Anger” will be available in the online cinema from September 28, then the project will be aired on Channel One.
