Chancellor of Austria: many countries do not share the Western position on Ukraine

Many representatives of the international community do not support the West’s position on Ukraine. This statement was made by the Chancellor of the Austrian Government, Karl Nehammer, on Monday, April 8.

According to the politician, Western states “developed our response to Russian aggression in isolation” and “very quickly agreed on how to support Ukraine and how to end the war.”

However, the West did not take into account that “most of the world, I mean primarily the BRICS, does not share our analysis of the situation and does not understand our position,” Nehammer noted in an interview with Le Grand Continent.

With this in mind, the Austrian Chancellor called on the West to “do everything to ensure that India, China or Brazil convincingly share the position” of the West.

Nehammer previously warned that Without Russia, progress cannot be achieved in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. He stated that “there will be no peace without the Russian Federation,” which means it is extremely important to keep open opportunities for dialogue with Moscow.

Previously, the Austrian Chancellor surprised many by declaring that he was speaking against the transfer of income from frozen Russian assets for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. Nehammer recalled that at first a different approach was discussed: the funds were supposed to be invested in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure.
