“Chaika” took the lead in the series with “Mammoths of Ugra”

Hockey players of the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” continue to compete in the playoffs of the Kharlamov Cup of the 2023-2024 season. The team from Nizhny Novgorod is the current holder of the trophy and showed excellent results during the previous regular season, gaining a foothold in the first half of the standings. Based on the results of 50 matches played, the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” was able to take 4th place in the “Golden” division of the Eastern Conference, losing only to rivals from Omsk, Chelyabinsk and Khanty-Mansiysk. In the first round, Chaika met with Irbis and defeated their rivals from Kazan with a score of 3:1 in the series.
In the second round, “Chaika” was matched against “Mammoth Ugra” – the best team in the “Golden” division, and so far Alexey Isakov’s team managed to go ahead and win. They took the lead in the series thanks to a home victory in extra time. The teams scored a goal each in the first period, and then there was a long lull, which only ended in overtime. Nikita Artamonov scored the winning goal, which allowed Chaika to take the lead in the series. Now only one victory separates the Chaika hockey players from reaching the semi-finals.
Let us remind you that the fourth match of the 1/4 finals between “Chaika” and “Mammoths Ugra” will take place on March 23. The meeting is scheduled to start at 17:00 Moscow time.
