Hockey players of the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” continue to play in the regular championship of the MHL season 2023-2024. The team from Nizhny Novgorod is the current holder of the Kharlamov Cup and feels great in the “Golden” division of the Eastern Conference. At the moment, Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” ranks 4th in the “Golden” division, having scored 64 points in 48 matches. The Torpedo youth team settled in 4th position and, most likely, will not leave it. The Nizhny Novgorod team has already secured access to the Kharlamov Cup for a long time.
In the second match against the Siberian Snipers, Alexei Isakov’s team was expected to dominate and score a large number of goals, but this did not happen. “Chaika” played weakly and simply “fell apart” during the match, allowing the goalkeeper of “Siberian Snipers” to keep a clean sheet. The outcome of the meeting was decided by two goals scored by the Siberian Snipers in the first period. “Chaika” tried to win back a two-goal advantage, but the team from Nizhny Novgorod was not even able to score one goal.
Chaika will play the final matches of the regular season on February 23 and 24. Alexey Isakov’s team will play double matches against the Omsk Hawks at the opponent’s arena.
