“Chaika” starts in the Kharlamov Cup playoffs

Hockey players of the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” completed the regular championship of the MHL season 2023-2024. The team from Nizhny Novgorod is the current holder of the Kharlamov Cup and showed excellent results last season, securing automatic entry into the Kharlamov Cup playoffs. Based on the results of 50 matches played, “Chaika” was able to score 66 points, which allowed it to take 4th place in the “Golden” division, leaving behind rivals representing Omsk, Chelyabinsk and Khanty-Mansiysk.
In the first round of the playoffs, the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” hockey players will have to play against opponents representing the Kazan “Ak-Bars” system. Alexey Isakov’s team will compete for access to the next round with Irbis Kazan, which took 5th place in the regular season in the “Golden” division. During the championship, “Chaika” and “Irbis” met twice and exchanged victories. At first, Irbis left no chance for the Nizhny Novgorod team, and then Chaika twice defeated their opponents from Kazan.
Let us remind you that the first match of the 1/8 finals of the Kharlamov Cup playoffs between Chaika and Irbis will take place on March 7. The meeting is scheduled to start at 18:30 Moscow time.
