Hockey players of the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” continue to play in the regular championship of the MHL season 2023-2024. The team from Nizhny Novgorod has recently not shown the best results in matches against its closest competitors in the Golden Division of the Eastern Conference. First, Chaika lost away to the Polar Bears, and then, unexpectedly for many, they lost to Irbis at home. “Chaika” planned to take revenge in the meeting against “Irbis”, which will be held in Kazan, but everything did not go according to plan for Alexei Isakov’s charges.
This time the Irbis hockey players opened the scoring, and the Nizhny Novgorod team constantly caught up, but they only managed to establish equality once. In the very opening of the 2nd period the score became 1:1, but a few minutes later Irbis regained the advantage. The score 2:1 lasted for a long time and changed only at the beginning of the 3rd period, when Irbis increased its advantage to 2 goals. Chaika reduced the gap to a minimum, but the team from Nizhny Novgorod did not have enough to do more. Alexey Isakov’s team suffered 3 defeats in a row and risk losing 4th place in the “Golden” division.
Nizhny Novgorod’s Chaika will play the next match of the MHL regular season on December 16. The Nizhny Novgorod team will host the Kuznetsk Bears from Novokuznetsk at their home arena.
