“Chaika” lost in the home match against “Irbis”

On December 5, the Nizhny Novgorod “Chaika” hockey players played their next home match as part of the MHL regular championship for the 2023-2024 season. Alexey Isakov’s team, after a long away tour, returned to home ice to meet with an opponent in the “Golden” division of the Eastern Conference. Hockey players from Kazan Irbis came to Nizhny Novgorod. The Ak-Bars youth team is much weaker than Chaika, but in the head-to-head match they showed excellent hockey and produced a result that surprised many.
The match began with a quick goal from Chaika and it seemed that everything went according to plan for the Nizhny Novgorod team from the first seconds, but Irbis did not break and showed character. Already at the end of the first 20 minutes, Irbis was leading with a score of 2:1, and in the second period it increased its advantage to two goals. During the third period of the game, Chaika had a noticeable advantage and could have equalized the score, but the Irbis goalkeeper helped out his team, and the Nizhny Novgorod team forgave them in some episodes. Thus, “Chaika” lost to “Irbis” in a home match with a score of 3:1.
On December 10, there will be a return match between Chaika and Irbis. This time the match will take place in Kazan.
