On September 15, the Vershina Center for Adaptive Physical Education and Sports was opened in Belgorod. The event took place with the support of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
On the same day, the second inclusive children’s and youth festival of adaptive sports started in the region.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov spoke about the decision to create such a center in the region. He noted that this idea came in 2020, when he got acquainted with the statistics on the number of people with disabilities who study in the region and successfully perform at the international level.
“I am infinitely glad that, despite all the difficulties, we managed to make this object the way it turned out. All conditions have been created here for the development of the Paralympic and Deaflympic areas, as well as the Russian Special Olympics movement,” the head of the region emphasized.
Let us note that the area of the center exceeds four thousand square meters. It has several halls: universal, for table tennis, volleyball, with exercise equipment. All of them are adapted for visiting people with disabilities. More than 135 people can study at the same time.
