CEC announces Mirziyoyev’s victory in presidential elections in Uzbekistan

The current President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev won the presidential election with 87.05% of the vote. About it reported in the press service of the CEC of Uzbekistan following the meeting of the CEC, during which the results of early elections were approved.

More than 15.6 million people, or almost 80% of voters, took part in the voting in the elections that took place on July 9.

The candidate from the Social Democratic Party “Adolat” (“Justice”), the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Court Robakhon Makhmudova (she won 4.43% of the vote), the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (NDPU) Ulugbek Inoyatov (4, 02%) and leader of the Ecological Party Abdushukur Khamzaev (3.74%).

The presidential elections in Uzbekistan were held ahead of schedule on July 9. By 11:00, the elections were recognized as valid, since the turnout exceeded the required threshold and amounted to 33.54%. Voting ended at 20:00 (18:00 Moscow time) on the same day.

On July 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his colleague on his re-election. First, he sent him a congratulatory telegram, in which he called Mirziyoyev’s victory convincing and noted that this indicates the broad support of the people for the policies of the current president. Later they held telephone conversation in which Putin again congratulated Mirziyoyev.

In May, the Uzbek constitution was amended to give Mirziyoyev the right to run for office twice more. If he wins the current and future elections, he will be able to lead the country until 2037. His mandate before the amendments expired in 2026. In 2021, Mirziyoyev won the presidential election with 80.31% of the vote, with a turnout of 80.04%.
