Catholic Church in Germany blesses same-sex marriage
[ad_1]
The Catholic Church in Germany will begin to bless same-sex marriages. However, the innovation will take effect from March 2026. This decision was made at the synodal meeting in Frankfurt am Main.
The text emphasizes that refusing to bless the union of two people is “discriminatory and unmerciful.” This is motivated by the fact that the refusal cannot be convincingly justified in theological terms.
In a significant part of Catholic parishes in Germany, same-sex couples were blessed up to this point. But this was formally a violation of Catholic customs. Now the situation has been resolved.
