Catherine Guillouard will leave the general management of the group for personal reasons

She will leave her position as head of the RATP at the end of September. “Catherine Guillouard has informed the State shareholder that she wishes to end her duties as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the RATP group for personal reasons”wrote the Ministries of Economy and Transport in a joint press releaseThursday 1er september. “By mutual agreement, his mandate will therefore end on September 30th”they added.
The government has “already” launched a recruitment procedure to appoint a successor, according to the text. Pending his appointment, the RATP will be temporarily managed by the representative of the State, Pierre-Alain Roche, for the chairmanship of the board of directors, and by the financial director, Jean-Yves Leclercq, for the general management.
“I salute the commitment of Catherine Guillouard, a woman of action”said the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, quoted in the press release. “It has profoundly transformed the RATP group and accelerated its development”he added, praising his “good management of one of the first mobility networks in the world” and “implementation of the public transport decarbonization plan”.
Preparing the company for the arrival of competition
Catherine Guillouard, 57, arrived at the head of the RATP in August 2017. She then succeeded the position of CEO of the management to the current Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who became Minister of Transport in the government of Edouard Philippe. She was reappointed in July 2019 for a five-year term.
At the head of the RATP, she essentially focused on preparing opening up to competition, the company having to gradually lose its monopoly in public transport in the heart of the Paris conurbation. It has also endeavored to diversify the activities of the public group, with in particular the strong development of RATP Dev, a subsidiary specializing in the operation of public transport networks outside the historic area of Ile-de-France.
“The RATP group has become the third largest urban public transport operator in the world”noted Mme Guillouard, in a RATP press releasegreeting “a collective united by strong values, by a singular capacity for commitment in the service of the company and the general interest”.
A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and ENA (Léon-Gambetta promotion, 1991-1993), Catherine Guillouard had previously passed through the general management of the Treasury of the Ministry of the Economy, Air France, Eutelsat Communications and Rexel.
