CAS believed in the honesty of Valieva’s testimony about doping

The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) does not believe that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva deliberately tried to deceive participants in her doping trial. This is stated in the reasons for the CAS decision, which was made public on Wednesday, February 7.
The judges found Valieva to be an honest, straightforward and trustworthy person, and her statements of innocence were plausible, the document emphasizes.
However, these statements are clearly insufficient to establish a lack of intent to dope, the CAS ruled.
Olympic silver medalist Alexander Zhulin said that figure skater Kamila Valieva “psychologically raped”, because she had to sit and listen to it all in court for seven hours. Zhulin recalled that “some athletes also began to apply pressure – they used to be friends, but now they have turned their backs.”
Meanwhile, choreographer Alexey Zheleznyakov, who previously worked in the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze, said that figure skater Kamila Valieva’s entourage should polygraph test. In his opinion, everyone involved in this case should be sent to a lie detector.
