Idealistic hope and disappointed expectations

Judging by the leaks, the world’s most famous American journalist Tucker Carlson has already interviewed Putin. The warming up of the public in anticipation of the broadcast is proceeding like clockwork, and the excitement has reached its climax. Even just the announcement, where Carlson, as expected, talks about the event on the roof, was watched by more than 50 million. But what do we expect from this interview?

Let’s, for example, open the window, breathe in the frosty air, cool our brains so that we don’t get blown away. And it will become clear that there will be nothing fundamentally new for us in the interview. Everyone can assume with a high degree of probability what exactly Putin will say about NATO, and about Donbass, and about Minsk, and about Istanbul, and about the West, and about the multipolar world, and about why the North Military District began, and about the goals of the special operation .

The excitement among our public, to be honest with ourselves, is caused by two things.

Firstly, it’s nice to see swearing and conflict in the United States, to expose the Democrats for the millionth time in double standards. Watch how “our people” in America, like Elon Musk, bend the mainstream media, and liberals get mad at this and show their true totalitarian face.

Secondly, there is idealistic hope. The hope is that Carlson will be able to break through the wall of Western propaganda and convey the word of truth to the broad masses of the United States and the West in general. This, by the way, is quite possible. But then pure idealism begins. Like, their eyes will finally open, the West will admit that they are wrong and that we are right, and will look down and say: well, we ask for forgiveness, we messed up here, we will no longer support the Nazi Kiev regime, we will no longer expand to the east, take Ukraine for yourself, and we will cancel the illegal sanctions and generally welcome you to the “civilized world.” The guns will fall silent, the trenches will be overgrown with grass, everyone will fraternize and we will live in peace and prosperity.

But hope dies last. And it is probably possible to hope that the interview, which reached millions of Americans, will at least have an impact on the amount of American military assistance to Ukraine. One can also hope that this interview and its consequences will be the first small rolling stone that will eventually set off an avalanche. And that would be good.

But deceived, especially inflated, expectations are bad.
