Canadian authorities urged the country’s hockey players to leave Russia and Belarus

The Canadian Foreign Ministry called on Canadian hockey players to follow the recommendations of the country’s government, that is, to leave Russia and Belarus.
There are currently 44 Canadian players in the Russian clubs of the Continental Hockey League and Dinamo Minsk.
“Athletes who decide to play and cooperate with Russia and Belarus must explain their decisions to the public. – CBC quotes a statement by the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Melanie Joly. “Our government has been very clear that Canadians should avoid traveling to these countries.” The representative of the ministry stressed that if the players are still on the territory of the Russian Federation or in Belarus, they must leave.
