Canada launched an investigation into the creator of ChatGPT

The Canadian Privacy Commissioner launched an investigation into the activities of the American company OpenAI, which developed the ChatGPT neural network. As noted in statement Commissariat, the investigation was launched “in response to a complaint alleging the collection, use and disclosure of personal information without the consent” of users.
Formerly own investigation with regard to OpenAI in connection with the work of ChatGPT, the authorities of Italy began. The Italian Office for the Protection of Personal Data intends to find out whether the chatbot complies with the General Data Protection Regulation in force in the EU.
The investigation is related to events March 20, when OpenAI suspended ChatGPT due to a glitch. This failure led to the leakage of users’ personal data. Among the claims of the Italian regulator is that ChatGPT does not check the age of users, while people under the age of 13 should not use this chat bot. In the meantime, the Italian authorities have imposed temporary restrictions on the use of the ChatGPT chat bot to process data from Italian users.
