The Canadian authorities have once again expanded anti-Russian sanctions. Updated blacklists published on Friday, May 19th.
Under the restrictive measures were the Commissioner for Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russian Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, the former Permanent Representative of Russia to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov and a number of other politicians, economic and public figures.
In addition, Canada imposes sanctions against the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Popular Front and the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps.
Moscow warned Ottawa that it would take steps in response to the anti-Russian policy of the Canadian authorities. In April, Russia banned officials and other Canadian citizens from entering its territory, all in the list of retaliatory restrictions there were 333 surnames. The measure taken against politicians, officials, parliamentarians, activists and athletes involved in Russophobic actions is designed to encourage them to change their behavior.
Canadian sanctions against Russians raise questions as to their justification. For example, racing driver Nikita Mazepin was blacklisted in Ottawa for his connections with his father, businessman Dmitry Mazepin. The athlete sued with a demand to remove restrictions from himsince it is not related to the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and is not involved in the Russian economy.
