The Canadian ice hockey team defeated the Latvian team in the semi-finals of the World Championship. The meeting ended with the score 4:2 (0:1, 1:1, 3:0). In the final, Team Canada will play the team that won the match USA – Germany.

Team Canada is reaching the finals of the Ice Hockey World Championship for the fourth year in a row. In 2019 and 2022, the Canadians lost to Finland in the final. In 2021, the Canadian team beat the Finnish team. The 2020 World Cup was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ice hockey teams of Russia and Belarus this year do not take part in the World Championship due to sanctions imposed by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Ice Hockey World Championship this year was supposed to be held in St. Petersburg, but it was moved to Finnish Tampere and Latvian Riga.
