It is quiet on the streets in the center of Voronezh after the introduction of the counter-terrorist operation regime. There are no military vehicles or reinforced police patrols. For half an hour of being in the center, the Kommersant correspondent did not meet a single policeman.
In one of the military units in the center, the situation is calm: the soldiers, as usual, guard the perimeter of the building.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee reported that a regime of counter-terrorist operation (CTO) was introduced on the territory of Moscow, as well as in the Voronezh and Moscow regions. Measures have been taken to prevent possible terrorist attacks.
Security measures in the regions of Russia have been intensified since the late evening of June 23, after public accusations of the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin of shelling the company’s positions by the Ministry of Defense. He talked about sending PMC fighters to Rostov, and by the morning of June 24, he announced that he was in control of all military facilities in the city. Authorities of the Rostov region canceled all public events, residents recommended do not leave their homes.
