Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia: 78,000 Armenians have already arrived from Nagorno-Karabakh to the republic

More than 78,000 internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh have already arrived in Armenia. This was reported by the press secretary of the Armenian Prime Minister Nazeli Baghdasaryan on Facebook (the social network belongs to the Meta company, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

“As of 22:00 (21:00 Moscow time) on September 28, 78,354 forcibly displaced compatriots arrived from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia,” Baghdasaryan said.

On the morning of September 28 reported about 65,000 people who arrived in Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh. On the same day, the president of the unrecognized republic Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the disbandment of all government structures.

Political changes and the exodus of Armenians began in Nagorno-Karabakh after “anti-terrorism measures” carried out by the Azerbaijani army on September 19. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement. After this, negotiations took place in Yevlakh between representatives of the Azerbaijani government and the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Following the meeting, Karabakh military personnel began to hand over their weapons.

The disarmament process is controlled by Russian peacekeepers. By data The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, by September 28, in Nagorno-Karabakh, 14 units of armored vehicles, 13 units of automotive equipment, seven units of air defense systems, 45 units of field artillery guns, MLRS and mortars, more than 4,500 units of small arms, anti-tank weapons and MANPADS and about 1.5 million ammunition.
