Businesswoman suspected of stealing 300 million rubles from GRU special forces

A criminal case against Russian citizen and businesswoman Tatyana Alyabyeva was initiated by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) for Moscow, Kommersant reports.
As noted, she is suspected of having stolen about 300 million rubles from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) by abuse of power.
The material notes that this is the fourth time that Alyabyeva is suspected of such crimes, and she already has one conviction. According to investigators, she received large subcontracts for the construction of civilian objects of the Ministry of Defense: schools, apartment buildings and barracks in military camps. At the same time, the allocated funds were not used for construction, but were withdrawn through shell companies.
In particular, an example is given when Alyabyeva’s company did not complete work on the reconstruction of housing in the special forces unit in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Region. The deadlines for completing the work were disrupted, the entrepreneur also did not return the advance payment received in the amount of 295.95 million rubles. According to investigators, the businesswoman had accomplices, including members of the FSUE “Main Military Construction Directorate for Special Facilities” affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.
The report says that Alyabyeva pleaded guilty and is cooperating with the investigation.
