Burmistrov: foxes are becoming more common on the streets of Moscow

Sergey Burmistrov, head of the biodiversity conservation department of the capital’s department of nature management and environmental protection, said that foxes are increasingly appearing on the streets of the capital because of their mating season.
According to Burmistrov, foxes roaming the city at this time of the year are a common occurrence. The fact is that foxes, as a rule, begin the mating season from the end of January, and they look after themselves not only a couple, but also housing where they can take care of their offspring.
Sometimes the choice of foxes falls on the territory of kindergartens, schools and hospitals, said the head of the biodiversity conservation department.
In this regard, he recommended that employees of institutions be more careful so that foxes do not settle in urban areas, including making sure that there is no food necessary for animals in the territories of kindergartens, schools and hospitals – this, Burmistrov said, can discourage foxes from secluded corner in the middle of the city.
The specialist also reminded that the fox is primarily a wild animal, so you should not come close to foxes and try to stroke or feed them.
