Former Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze expressed regret when and why the country did not take advantage of the opportunity to become a “worthy state.”
According to her, Georgia had such an opportunity 20 years ago during the “Rose Revolution.”
The Rose Revolution was an important event. This was a chance… to build a democratically developed state of the European style,… to transform Georgia into a worthy state,” Burjanadze said.
However, according to her, after an excellent start, a split occurred among the leaders of the revolution – Saakashvili, Burjanadze herself and Zhvania.
“Literally a few days later, the unity of the leaders of the revolution, which was supposed to ensure the stable development of processes, began to collapse… This causes great regret, because the chance that Georgia had… was missed,” the opposition politician expressed her opinion.
