Bulgarian lawmakers voted down a professor – International News

Something happened in the Bulgarian parliament that was unexpected for many: professor, practicing neurosurgeon, corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Nikolai Gabrovsky, was voted out in the voting for the candidacy of the country’s prime minister, which was preceded by a three-hour debate.
The professor was nominated by the winning coalition of GERB (Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria) and the Union of Democratic Forces. However, the voting results – 113 “for”, 125 “against” put an end to the plans of the winners.
Now, in accordance with the Bulgarian constitution, the party that came second in the parliamentary elections, the Let’s Change coalition, will have a chance to get its candidate through. But, as TASS notes with reference to experts, it has practically no chance of successfully implementing this mandate.
