Bulgaria’s Liberation Day was celebrated in Sofia with a procession with Russian flags, Sputnik Belarus reports.
The day of the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke is a national holiday in Bulgaria. Celebrated annually on March 3rd. It is a public holiday.
Bulgarians reportedly waved the flags of Russia and their country, stopped in front of the statue of Alexander II on the People’s Assembly Square and chanted “Long live Russia!”
At the same time, representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus were not invited to the event, TASS reports. Earlier, Russian diplomats honored the memory of Russian soldiers and Bulgarian volunteers who died for the liberation of Bulgaria.
Actions in support of Russia were held regularly in Bulgaria. At the same time, the authorities of the country support Kyiv. Since February, Bulgaria has exported more than one billion euros worth of arms to Ukraine, but all these deliveries were unofficial. The country’s parliament only on November 3 approved negotiations with NATO on the free transfer of Soviet weapons to Kyiv in exchange for Western ones, and gave the government a month to develop a plan to supply Ukraine.
