Bryanets Bolshunov won the 15 km race at the Russian Championship

Three-time Olympic champion, a native of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bolshunov, playing for the Arkhangelsk region, won the skiathlon of the Russian Championship-2023 in Tyumen.

The skier covered the distance of 15 kilometers in 34 minutes 51.1 seconds. The second in the race was Anton Timashov. He lost 12.8 seconds to the winner. Alexey Chervotkin completed the top three (+27.9).

It should be noted that Alexander Bolshunov has been successfully performing both in sprint and distance races for several years. And the legendary skier began his sports career in his small homeland – in Podyvotya. This is a village in the Sevsky district of the Bryansk region. The first training took place under the guidance of his father. The first victories came in the school years, when Bolshunov spoke at the local level – for the honor of the educational institution, and after – from the district.

Alexander began to seriously engage in skiing in 2011, when his parent sent him to the sports school of the Olympic reserve in Bryansk. The future champion acquired the necessary skills already under the watchful eye of the Honored Coach of Russia N. I. Nekhitrov. Already in 2013, Bolshunov demonstrated good preparation at the All-Russian competitions and became the winner of the 10 km race in the classic style in the Tver region. Then it became clear that a brilliant future awaits the athlete. He was among the contenders for getting into the junior team of Russia.

Currently, in addition to numerous titles, Alexander Bolshunov is the father of baby Eva. The daughter was born in August 2022, and it is not yet clear whether she will become an athlete, like her father and mother, Russian skier Anna Zherebyateva.
