Julie Harper worked at Marks and Spencer but lost her job during the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, the 52-year-old has barely made ends meet and has struggled to live on £16 (1,212 rubles) a month.
Previously, as a mother of three children, she received a universal loan of 155 pounds (11,746 rubles). This is a Social Security benefit that replaces six separate payments.
Now the children have parted, allowance reduced to a minimum, and the woman is afraid that she will soon be kicked out of the house.
Julie admitted that she feels forgotten. According to her, she can only afford eggs, milk, bread and butter. There are days when she goes hungry because she doesn’t have enough ingredients to make pancakes for herself.
The British woman has two dogs. The need to feed them forced the British to turn to food banks. She admitted that animals often get only one toast per day, and she feels like a very bad person.
In addition, the veterinarians, whose bills she can no longer pay, offered to euthanize one of the dogs, a German shepherd, free of charge.
