UK bans £2.3bn from Chelsea sale outside Ukraine
The British authorities have decided to ban the use of proceeds from the sale of the Chelsea football club by Roman Abramovich outside of Ukraine. It is reported by the BBC.
It is noted that London believes that Abramovich is connected with the Kremlin, as a result of which he allowed the businessman to sell Chelsea only on the condition that the money would be transferred to help the citizens of Ukraine. A similar condition was spelled out in the documents on the sale of the football club, said the head of the fund that will distribute this money, Mike Penrose.
However, after a while it turned out that the fund would also not be able to help Ukrainians who had left their country.
It is known that the money from the sale of Chelsea is frozen in the account of Abramovich’s company Fordstam.
