Ukraine received upgraded high-precision Brimstone 2 missiles from the UK, writes The Daily Telegraph.
Unlike the previous model, Brimstone 2 has a laser guidance system and twice the launch range. This missile is intended for use by aviation, however, trucks are used as launchers by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The newspaper does not specify the number of missiles transferred, but notes that London has already supplied Kyiv with first-generation missiles. The cost of one Brimstone 2 rocket was estimated at $207,000.
November 19 London informed on the transfer to Ukraine of 125 anti-aircraft guns and special equipment to strengthen air defense and combat drones.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized Western military assistance to Ukraine. In this regard, back in April, Moscow sent a note of protest to all countries, including the United States. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the United States is trying to drag out the conflict by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Also, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov pointed to Washington’s economic interest in supplies. According to him, in this way the United States seeks to “skim the cream” against the backdrop of the current situation.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has repeatedly pointed out that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia. On October 20, she drew attention to the fact that the total Western military assistance to Ukraine, according to the latest data, has already amounted to $42.3 billion, of which $28.3 billion comes from the United States.
