Brazilian President Supports BRICS Expansion

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he supported the idea of including new countries in the BRICS.
BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and since 2011 South Africa. The name BRICS is an abbreviation for the English names of the countries that are members of the bloc.
Earlier, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said that the leaders of 23 states had officially announced their desire to join the BRICS. In addition, informal requests were received by the international organization.
